Judy Sherman was raised on the Olympic peninsula of Washington state where she developed an early passion for the seaports and fishermen that continue to reappear thematically throughout her work. Sherman's work appears in collections throughout the US, Germany, Portugal, and Mexico as well as museums including San Francisco's DeYoung Museum, the Legion of Honor, the DeSaisset Museum of the University of Santa Clara, the Rosicrucian Museum and the Triton Museum of Art. Her painting of the California Governor's Mansion was presented by the California Bar Association to former Governor Edmund Brown.
