Born in Bulgaria in 1965, Komar (Marko Kolio) spent much of his earlier years training in formal art. Over ten years, he studied at the School of Fine Art and Design and the Academy of Fine Art, both in Bulgaria. He then moved to London, England where he showed his work at various exhibitions for four years. Marko signs his work Komar,also studied classical painting and techniques in Italy. Komar traveled extensively as he was commissioned to paint trompe l'oeil murals and classic portraits for private buyers in England, Germany, Switzerland, and Italy. His portfolio features many different styles of work, revealing his extensive knowledge of many art techniques and mediums, including acrylic, oil, pastel, and water color. Komar emphasizes the universal nature of art, a language that crosses all borders and cultures containing both raw energy and physical imagery.
