Gilbert Amavisca has become one of the best and most prolific landscape painters in California. Trained in Sacramento City College under Gregory Kundos and then at Brigham Young University where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine Art, Amavisca began his career in painting.

The artist began to participate in figure study classes and to experiment further with landscapes. “I find both areas interesting” said Amavisca, “I think I will continue with both for the remainder of my career”. Amavisca creates over 80 paintings per year. He participates in anywhere from two to ten exhibitions per year, showing his vibrantly colored oils featuring incredible use of light and shadow to create depth and harmony.
