Mamie Joe received a BFA from the University of Mississippi. She is determined to work toward solidifying her work by using high contrast, as well as various textures, while continuing to manifest sensitivity. She employs symbols that have special meanings that relate to her own childhood. Her art has always reflected the cultural complexities of her family’s traditional Chinese background with her upbringing in the South.

Her work is included in permanent collections at the New Orleans Museum of Art, the Lamar Dodd Art Center, the Mississippi Museum of Art, Delta State University, and the University of Mississippi.
