  Robert Daughters

Daughters is known for his impressionistic style of paintings and serigraphs of the craggy, vibrant landscape of Northern New Mexico, Arizona and Mexico. He works on site and from sketches, studies and photographs. The artist has labelled his current style as composist. Like a composer who hears the melody in his head, Daughters sees the elements in his mind's eye. The resulting works are beautifully composed and quietly colored. In the 1970s, Daughters was part of the Taos 6, a group of impressionist artists. The six, who painted and promoted together, included Ron Barsano, Rod Goebel, Walt Gonske, Ray Vinella and Julian Robles. All have gone on, like Daughters, to evolve their own unique, individual styles. Daughters delights himself and his viewers by portraying the magic of Mexico and the American Southwest in his mind's eye and putting the music to canvas.
